As we move into summer, bicycle riders will again begin to appear more on our roads. This includes both adult riders as well as children riding bicycles on summer vacation. There are some important numbers to keep in mind so we can all be safe on our roads. In 2016, there were 359 bicycle accidents in the State of Tennessee where someone was injured. That is roughly one bicycle-related accident per day. Davidson County had 69 such accidents and Rutherford County has 23 according to the official report issued by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security. This means these two Middle Tennessee counties account for 25% of bicycle injury accidents in the entire State.

Protect Your Rights As a Cyclist

Bicycle accidents happen for all the same reasons as car accidents and pedestrian accidents. Inattentive drivers, population increases, poorly designed roads, insufficient bike lanes, or bike rider error are the prime causes of these incidents. If you have been involved in a bicycle or bike accident, it is important to get the information you need so you can properly protect your rights. You need an experienced bicycle accident attorney who can investigate the facts and provide you with a complete analysis of the accident and what your rights and responsibilities are.

Smyrna Bicycle Accident Lawyers

As a community, we need to reduce the number of injured bicyclists. More than one injured bicyclist every week is too much. Bicyclists always play close attention to your surroundings and use caution when sharing the roads with motor vehicles. Taking small proactive measures can greatly reduce the number of bike accidents on Tennessee roads.
