Why do car accidents happen?

Last year in Rutherford County there were 1,277 vehicle accidents caused by failing to maintain one’s lane or running off the road. There were 1,936 vehicle wrecks in Rutherford County classified as failing to yield the right of way. In fact, last year 559 vehicle accidents were caused simply by drivers being inattentive. To put these numbers in perspective, there were more than five accidents a day in Rutherford County caused by simply failing to yield the right of way to another driver.
